Brasilian guitarist - RICARDO PRIMATA - a brief history
Ricardo Primata has began in the music playing acoustic guitar when he was 11, then he started to learn erudite guitar at Universidade Federal da Bahia. He never left electric guitar and got particular classes with personal teachers. When he was a teenager, he played some live performances in some high school fairs with erudite and electric guitars. At 15, Ricardo started his first heavy metal band called Angkor, with self compositions and a particular way of playing, which influences were into heavy metal, erudite and flamenco music and Brazilian one.
In the beginning of 2002, Ricardo started his own progressive rock project called Ritmia, which has released its first album, self-titled. “Ritmia” was produced and mixed by Ricardo and contains 10 tracks mixing some kind of music genres, having some guest participations of well known local musicians. “Ritmia” doesn’t concern to any kind of formula or pre-conception of the music business, so “Ritmia” brought to Ricardo very good feedback by newspapers, radio stations, websites, zines, webzines, and so on. Issue Dec. 2004 of Brazilian Guitar Player magazine have published an interview with Ricardo and described him as having “powerful guitar riffs, well constructed guitar solos, and good compositions”.
Ricardo Primata also teaches particular classic and electric guitar classes with multimedia CD’s and self produced class material, made by his own during his life as a musician. Also he plays at workshops and workshows with a full band or just with a playback. Ricardo have made some workshows as guest musician besides well-known Brazlian ones, i.e. Angra axeman Kiko Loureiro, Slow bassman Joel Moncorvo, Ungodly drummer Thiago Nogueira and Angra frontman Edu Falaschi.
Due his talent, Ricardo Primata is endorsed by some of the best Brazilian guitar companies, as M.Laghus Custom Basses ad Guitars (www.mlaghus.com), T. Miranda Custom Effects (www.tmiranda.com) and Spanish pick-ups (www.spanish.com.br). All of them have great reputation in the Brazilian music market.
Currently, Ricardo is graduating in composition and regency at Music School of Universidade Federal da Bahia. His Prog Metal band called Slow had just released its debut CD, “Killer Mermaid”, and he’s also promoting his solo EP “Visões”, a four-track material which is described as a preview of his instrumental new solo CD, scheduled to be released earlier in 2007. Primata is participating with his new track “Baião a Dois” to a music festival sponsored by Educadora radio station.
